The school

The School Complex

dsc_5102The school will have an innovative methodology to address the education problems many children in Africa are facing. The school will allow all children to grow, learn and develop using different tools and instruments to foster their skills, creativity and mental wellbeing. It will associate lessons in the classroom with sport, art, dance, manual activities and a new approach which enables the child to learn at his own pace. This 105_5683methodology enables the school to accommodate children with special needs and ensure that their requirements are met since the school program is created around the child and his/her skills, abilities and needs.

The school will be built in the rural area of the chiefdom of Chieftness Nkomesha Mukatambo II. The land will be given by the community, through the Zambian Customary Land Tenure System thanks to the approval and support of the Headmen of the area and of the Chieftness herself.

Aims of the project

Zambia p1010640One of the key objectives is to promote all children’s right to education especially of children with disability and other disadvantaged children who are the most marginalized groups of children in terms of poverty, discrimination and access to education.

The target groups of the action are among the most disadvantaged people in Zambia. The action intends to meet their important educational needs, which at present contribute to increasing their poverty and to worsening the quality of their present and future life.

By associating educational empowerment with a social, mental and physical development of children and youth in the same area through organized sport and recreational activities proved to be powerful tools to better perform at school and acquire skills fundamental in life, the project intends to reach to the most vulnerable children who are often left out from the formal schooling path. Sport is a hook to engage these children and it will further complete their development in a way formal schooling failed.
