Never Give Up – Football

ngu-football-011In 2009, the Never Give Up Football League was created to involve the increasing number of children and youth interested in taking part to different sport activities.

The FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa, for the first time on African soil, and its objective to leave a legacy not only to African football, but also for African society in general, contributed to an increasing number of football teams, schools and communities interested in the project.

The establishment of the Never Give Up Football League following the idea of football as a tool for social development, peace and social change to make a concrete and tangible contribution to youths and children thanks to the partnership and active participation of the local population and organisations allowed Sport2build to involve more than 2000 children and youths in the football activities.dsc_5387

Each local football club, often associated to the local community school, includes five teams Under 9, Under 13 and Under 15 Boys, Under 10 and Under 14 Girls. Female coaches are encouraged to train the teams and they are often football players themselves becoming real role models for the younger ones.

Courses for coaches and referees are fundamental part of the Sport2build methodology in order to give the appropriate knowledge and tools to train the young football players.
