S2B Methodology

S2B METHODOLOGY

Borrowing the idea from the Olympic anthropologist John MacAloon, Sport its self is not good or bad, it is just an empty and neutral box to be filled in and a tool to be used with values, ideas, meaning, dependent on the cultural context in which takes place and people who take part. The effectiveness of sport entirely depends upon the manner in which sport is used.

  • Context analysis
  • Assessment of local community conditions, needs and resources
  • Formulation of most appropriate programme together with community leaders and active youth
  • Identification of coaches/peer educators, especially among school leavers and active youth, who share Sport for development concept and S2B values
  • Training of coaches/ peer leaders through community logistic support
  • Maximization of participants inclusion in sport activities
  • Focusing on daily training, including in each session both, physical activities and discussion on life skills learnt
  • Creation of partnership with local organizations for future sustainability
  • Measuring sporting outcomes through indicators
  • Assessing the personal and social impact on participants
  • Assessing the non-sporting outcomes
