Never Give Up race 2012 – First race

Saturday 12 May 2012: C7 – MUNGU 4 km off road for children and 7 km for senior groups

In spite of the short notice, coaches from several villages managed to gather almost 200 children (Junior boys and Junior girls, under 12) and adults (Men and Women) to participate in the first Never Give Up race 2012.

The race started in the late morning, in order to give everybody the chance to reach the start point in C7 (thanks to Sidney that, once again, is collecting people at various meeting points in the villages to drive them to the races).

In the senior categories (Men and Women), a group of athletes led the race from the very beginning and kept their positions until they reached the arrival. Some of them had already won other races in the previous editions of Never Give Up Race, while others are new to the competition. It’s inspiring to watch the young boys and girls, some of them really talented: they are both enthusiastically engaged and very committed to do their best. Everybody enjoyed refreshment offered by SPORT2BUILD at the arrival. Afterwards, it was time for the winners to receive their prizes: SPORT2BUILD T-shirts for the first 10 in each category and blankets (the cold season is coming) and monetary prizes for the 3 top-ranked in each category.

All in all we had a sunny, fun and friendly day with the youth of the Kafue district and SPORT2BUILD! The goal for the next race, which will be held on Saturday 26 may, is to increase the number of participants!
