XV NEVER GIVE UP: C7 – MUNGU

The Never Give Up starts again! We are at the fifteenth edition!p1100380

Today’s race is the C7 to Mungu, 7km for the Seniors and 5 km for the Juniors.

Always at the first race the athletes are few, this time too we are not very many, but relatively a lot are the Senior Girls and there is competition. The chanyanya team has a new runner and Coach Ernest says she is very fast, when I ask him he says: ‘Strong???’ She is VERY strong!’. Doris Nyiemba will arrive third. First and second place for the Chipapa team, Sylvia Malaila, Junior at the last edition is first and Mercy Kapempe second.

A new team takes part for the first time today, the Shimabala team with the two youngest coaches, Winnie 13 years and her assistant precious, 9 years. A nice team, 14 athletes: 4 very young seniors (13 years including coach Winnie) and 10 Juniors.

Ultra champion and coach Gillias wears a funcky cowboy hat, not he is a coach and very strong runner but he is also a style icon of the Never Give Up always with trendy accessories! At the start he always finds time for a few encouragements to the others. Today he started easy chatting with Winnie he told her: ‘Start easy and then you will catch them! See you in Mungu’ and off he went chasing after everone, passing each one and arriving in Mungu number one. So first place for Gillias Nangwala, second for Sydney Mweemba and third for Abraham Kunda.

Junior Boys: first Best Michelo, second Joe Malambo and third Elias Kapempe. Junior Girls: first Loveness Chungu, second Mildred Kandolo and third Vera Kasele.

See you at  the next race, the Mungu round!
